Gold

11/01/12

The first recorded use of golden as a color name in English was in 1300 to refer to the element gold and in 1423 to refer to blonde hair. Gold has been valued in many cultures for centuries for its sheer brilliance, sun inspired colour, and its ability to connect with the Divine. The ancients used this metal to adorn their bodies, their altars and shrines, and to honour their gods. Gold is intimately linked with Divinity and those gods associated with the Sun. The traditional gold colour meaning is that of power. It also symbolizes wealth, success, and good health.
